April 8, 2019
Over the last four years we have been working hard to build a better future for our young Canadians. Our Prime Minister takes this commitment seriously, which is why he personally took up the Youth portfolio after taking office. We have made many investments in order to provide opportunities for young Canadians, such as doubling the size of Canada Summer Jobs program, forgiving the interest during the grace period for student loans, and creating more workplace apprenticeship placements for new graduates. We couldn’t have done this without directly consulting with diverse youth from across Canada.
That’s why our Prime Minister announced that the first-ever Canada Youth Summit will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, on May 2 and 3, 2019. The Summit will bring together 300 young people from every province and territory to discuss issues that matter to them, from protecting our environment and fighting climate change, to supporting good jobs and service opportunities, to building more equal and inclusive communities.
I know there are some motivated youth in Mississauga-Erin Mills who have great ideas to offer during this summit. If you want to attend, or you know someone who would, you are invited to participate in the Youth Video Challenge. They can enter to win a trip to the Summit by posting a video on social media using the hashtag #InspiredToServe, capturing what service means to them and how it benefits their community, and submitting an online application.
The Deadline to enter is April 14th!
